We have four winners!

Remember that contest I ran on this blog last week, the one where readers could enter a draw to win a print copy of Seumas Gallacher’s novel, Vengeance Wears Black, by answering a skill-testing question?

Well, we received four comments from readers who correctly answered that the tribute poem Seumas had written and “performed” for me was loosely based on Robert W. Service’s The Shooting of Dan McGrew and that he wrote and performed it on the occasion of the second anniversary of my author promotion blog, Reading Recommendations.

Now, because Seumas Gallacher is a such a generous and kindly sort of fellow – and this is the way his kilt swings … he decided to send each of the four women who had entered the draw a signed print copy of his book! So there will soon be copies winging their way to Mary Smith, Janice Spina, Cinthia Ritchie and Emma Biddulph! I know you’re all going to love reading it, too, because I’ve read everything written by That Man, and I tell you – he’s always at the top of my list of favourite authors!

So you just never know what prizes await you whenever you read my blog … and Seumas’s blog, for that matter! Stay tuned for more opportunities in the future.

I also want to take a moment here to tell you that today this blog of mine passed 1700 subscribers! Thanks to everyone who reads the blog, and to those many faithful followers among you who continue to like, comment, share, reblog. I could never have come this far without all of you!

I’ll close this with one last treat … a reprise of Seumas Gallacher’s celebratory video! Enjoy!

And thank you again, kind sir, for making all of this possible! Mwahhh!

Announcing a CONTEST!!

IS_ThatLastSummer

Leading up to the holidays, I thought it would be fun to hold a contest for readers of my blog so that they may win copies of both my eBooks! There will be a copy of each of Island in the Clouds and That Last Summer available for a draw to be held on this blogsite on Dec. 23rd.

Anyone is eligible to win, and even if you have read either or both books, you will still want to enter for the chance to win a copy to give to a friend. Let’s say you’re giving someone an eReader as a gift … Wouldn’t it be fun to include a copy of one of my books to be downloaded on that eReader so they may begin reading immediately?

All you have to do to enter is post a comment below and tell me whether you would like to win a copy for yourself, or for a friend, and why you want to win either Island in the Clouds or That Last Summer. You’re welcome to enter to win both eBooks, but please enter twice and list the titles separately.

Good luck to everyone!

200 Blog Followers/Subscribers! Shazzam!

A day short of a month ago, I posted this to my blog: Now We Are 175!

At that time, I held a draw to celebrate and chose two names at random from my list of subscribers and followers who then won copies of my book, Island in the Clouds, in print or eBook – their choice. I had also said then that I would hold another draw, picking two more names to win copies of my book, when the number of subscribers reached 200.

Well, guess what – we did it! We’ve reached the magic number of 200! And it’s all thanks to you, my loyal readers!

So, without further delay, here are the names of the two winners … eawarner and Jennifer. I will be sending you each an email to notify you of your prize and let you select the format.

I’ve decided that we should change things around a little bit for the next time and hold four separate draws based on the number of blog posts I publish, the number of views the blog receives, the number of comments made by readers, and the number of times this blog has been “shared” in various social media:

Number of Blog Posts – Currently at 472, and when I hit 500 I’ll hold a draw in which all subscribers/followers are eligible

Number of Views – Currently at 59,046, and when I hit 60,000 I’ll hold another draw for all subscribers/followers

Number of Comments – Currently at 970 and when that hits 1000 I’ll hold a draw for a name only from among those who have commented

Number of Times the Blog has been “Shared” – Currently at 280 and when that hits 300 I’ll hold a draw from among my friends, followers, contacts, etc., in Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest

So you can increase your chances of winning by commenting and sharing my blog.

Thanks, Everyone, for reading! Your support has been unbelievable – and greatly appreciated!

Island in the Clouds – A Contest!

To celebrate the print edition of my novel, Island in the Clouds, I’m organizing a contest – ahhh, many contests, actually – and am offering copies of the book as prizes to any bloggers, columnists, Twitter-ites interested in writing about me and my book (or a review, if you’ve read the book) that can then be shared with commentators, readers, followers, encouraging them to enter the contest in order to win a book (either print or eBook, depending upon the format winners wish to read).

So, if you blog, write a column (either print or online), or regularly use Twitter and have a loyal following, send me an email: susanmtoy (at) gmail.com. Let me know how you will be promoting this contest – and here you may be as imaginative as you wish, making it interesting, fun, creative or challenging. Tell me the size of the audience you usually reach then also link to my blog, and a specific information post I will write about the book and contest. We’ll make the final date to enter July 1 – Canada Day! – and you may choose one winner from your site at the end of that day. Send me the contact information for the winner and I will make sure they receive a copy of my book.

I will keep up with your announcements of the contest and in turn will promote you through my blog, on Facebook and Twitter.

Simple, huh? Just be sure that you register with me first before you begin running your contest. The number of copies available for this promotion is limited and I don’t want anyone promising a prize unless they have received the go-ahead from me first. Contact me as soon as you can and let’s get this contest rolling and have some fun!

Oh, and did I mention that any bloggers, columnists, or Twitter-ites who do sign up to run a contest for their readers and followers automatically receive a free copy of Island in the Clouds, either print or eBook, for themselves?
