Bequia – December 24th, 2012

Here we are, on Bequia, awaiting Santa’s arrival some time tonight …

The harbour is beginning to fill up with boats – although perhaps not as many as in past years, much to the chagrin of local business people. Will wait for the “official count” to be conducted on Christmas Day from our verandah at The View. It’s been raining here – quite a bit, actually, since about Wed. last week – but those of us who live on the island and depend on collecting rain water for our houses don’t mind at all! Bring it on, we say! (Sorry, tourists, but that’s just the way it is.)

No matter which way you celebrate this week, I’d like to wish everyone Happy Holidays, and a safe, healthy, and enjoyable week filled with fun, family, and friends!

  1. Rain and stormy weather as well on the other side of the ocean at La Palma (Islas Canarias)! And here aswell the Palmeros are happy about that – tourists like us not so much. By the way we see some other parallelism to B.: a lot of expats, mostly Germans here:-)
Dear friends, we send you lots of love, peace and happiness, take care!

    1. Merry Christmas, dear Gisela & Uli! You, like Joseph, are missed here on Bequia, especially at this time of year. Take good care of each other and enjoy your time on La Palma. We are all waving at you across the ocean …

  2. Let it rain, let it rain…..better than let it snow, although that should be a scene in Bequia! With the weathear being what it is, who knows….may be one day Bequians will have to shovel snow and scrap the ice from the windshield of their boats stuck in the icy water of Port Elizabeth. And torontonians bathing in the warm waters of lake Ontario. Enjoy Christmas all readers and followers and especially the writer of this blog.

    1. Thank you, dear Joseph, who we met the first time on Bequia in Dec. 1989, just before Christmas Day! Bequia misses you, but we hope that you have an enjoyable time and will not need to shovel snow at home this year while we grow mushrooms between our toes. Thanks for reading and commenting!
