Weather today: 81F/27C It was overcast this morning and it rained a few times during the day, but the skies are now clear and blue. The wind is still blowing through the house, carrying a lovely lemon fragrance from the now-blooming logwood trees.
The sun is setting now (it’s taken so long for me to figure out how to post a blog!!!) and is setting into the sea again after 4 months of setting behind the headland. No green flash this evening though.
This is life on Bequia, a small Caribbean island where nothing much ever happens. I spend most of my time here writing, mainly emails to my friends, but also novels. I’ve been writing these for 6 years now and have still not managed to get anything published. But I have also taken writing and publishing courses, all online, and continue to learn not only how to write, but how to edit and, hopefully, how to eventually get published. The most imporatant aspect is that I continue to learn, and grow.
And I’ve met some supportive, and very intelligent women (yes, they have all been women) along the way who are on much the same path as me. We’ve carried on our correspondence through group emails, covering many topics, but mainly revolving around books, writing, publishing, and bookselling. These women will all be happy to discover I will no longer be clogging their inboxes with several emails daily as I plan to now use this blog to carry on our discussions in public, and hopefully attract a few more interested people of like mind.
So, here’s the drill: I post whatever is of interest to me - because it is my blog, after all. Posts may be daily, but usually whenever I have time or think of something interesting to write about. Paige has requested a weather report and so it shall be. Then anyone can jump in and comment. Or ask questions. And as I’m the blogmaster, I get to choose what gets posted and what doesn’t, so if it’s a question I don’t want to answer, well…
Suddenly, I feel all-powerful!
So the blog will be about what I’m doing, what’s happening on Bequia, what I’m reading, writing, cooking, eating… pretty much my daily life on this island. Feel free to tell me who you are, what you’re doing, thinking, reading… Let’s get some discussion going!
